Arrival in Srinagar — Dal Lake Welcome
Arrive at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar. Transfer to your heritage houseboat on Dal Lake. Afternoon Shikara ride through the famous floating vegetable gardens and flower markets of Dal Lake. Welcome Wazwan dinner on the houseboat. Overnight on houseboat.
Shalimar Bagh & Nishat Bagh — The Great Mughal Gardens
Full day exploring the two grandest Mughal gardens. Morning visit to Shalimar Bagh — Emperor Jahangir's 'Abode of Love', with its four terraces, black marble pavilion and cascading fountains. Afternoon at Nishat Bagh — the 'Garden of Bliss', the largest Mughal garden in Kashmir, with twelve dramatic terraces overlooking Dal Lake and the Zabarwan hills. Evening sunset Shikara ride. Overnight on houseboat.
Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal & Shankaracharya Temple
Morning visit to Chashme Shahi — the 'Royal Spring' garden, known for its pure mineral spring and elevated views over Dal Lake. Continue to Pari Mahal (the 'Palace of Fairies'), a terraced Mughal garden and ruined palace perched above the lake. Afternoon ascent to Shankaracharya Temple — one of the oldest temples in India (c. 200 BCE), with stunning 360° views of the valley. Evening free. Overnight on houseboat.
Old City Srinagar — Jama Masjid, Lal Chowk & Craft Bazaars
Morning walk through the old city — visit the grand Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque), a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture; the ancient Shah Hamdan Mosque; and the bustling lanes of Maharaj Bazaar. Afternoon guided shopping for Pashmina shawls, hand-knotted carpets, Khatamband woodwork, saffron and dried fruits. Late afternoon visit to a traditional papier-mâché workshop. Farewell dinner at a heritage restaurant. Overnight on houseboat.
Final Sunrise Shikara & Departure
Early morning sunrise Shikara ride across the mist-covered Dal Lake — the most magical time to be on the water. Return to houseboat for breakfast. Check-out and transfer to Srinagar Airport. Tour concludes with memories of gardens, lakes and mountains that will last a lifetime.
